apical pulse

a student nurse was having difficulty finding the apical pulse of an elderly patient. the instructor came in and noticed that the student had his stethoscope down near the patient waist. perplexed, the instructor ask him why he was trying to take the pulse so low. he replied: "well you said it's usually under the left nipple."................................................from the nurses calendar
